How to Avoid Being a One Hit Wonder Coach

how to avoid being a one hit wonder coach by Lindsay Maloney

Today I want to talk about how we can avoid being a one hit wonder coach.

Let’s dig into the highlights!

Educate yourself

We as coaches must continue to learn and grow so that we can continue to serve our clients in ways that create impact [4.55]

Your fears will keep you company if you don’t allow yourself to step out and grow [7.00]

Release what’s holding you back [9.00]

Invest in yourself

Don’t allow yourself to let success be conditional. For example we would never say to our kids ‘I will love you when you clean your room.’ Keep infusing yourself with nourishment so you can continue to sustain your business [9.45]

Don’t strive to pretend to know it all

Continue to make choices that will make ourselves better so that we don’t burn out and because a one it wonder coach [11.30]

If you don’t know something, research it and ask questions. When we allow ourselves to let go of this idea that we have to know everything, we will find that business will be a lot easier and we can avoid being a one hit wonder coach [12.45]

3 Things You Need to be Doing Now in Your Coaching Business

3 Things You Need to be Doing Now in Your Coaching Business

This episode explains three things you need to be doing now in your coaching business… and the best part, all the tips don’t cost any money!

Let’s dig into the highlights!

Have a legit sales page. [3.15]

I see so many coaches putting little paragraphs of information and not a full page of information.

Sales pages are not just for programs or products, they are for you to sell your VIP program [or as others call it, working 1:1 with people]. Here is my sales page template ->

Think about it from the client experience, what would be attractive to you going onto a sales page? Ensure to include that in your page.

Raise prices quarterly [10.00]

You want to continue to raise your pricing to reflect your growth.

Your knowledge grows, so people should be paying for more advice. As you invest in yourself, you have the right to raise your prices.

Have a coaching funnel [11:40]

E.g. Freebie [that will give your dream clients a quick win] -> Email welcome sequence [I usually write out about 6 emails which are automated to send out to those who have opted into your email funnel through the freebie] -> show people how to work with you and simplify the process for them. Download one of my freebies to see my personal coaching funnel

What to Do When You're Feeling Stuck

What to Do When You're Feeling Stuck by Linday Maloney, Book Your Dream Clients Podcast

In this episode I talk about practical tips of what to do when you are feeling stuck, let’s dig into the highlights!

From a coach’s perspective, taking ‘clarity breaks’ are so important. You don’t have to feel guilty for taking a break [4.20]

Find something that doesn’t require too much effort on your part, like watching your favorite TV show [6.44]

Never think about what you could have done in those few hours you took a break. You will feel more productive after taking the time to watch a TV show or something that fills you up [10.00]

You cannot be an effective coach if you don’t allow time for your mindset [11.22]

We shouldn’t be saying ‘once you do this you can have this,’ why don’t we give ourselves what we deserve now [12.00]

We don’t have to wait until our cup is empty to refill it [13.18]

Think about your clarity moments. What are the things that fill you up? [16.41]

We won’t achieve our goals if we hold ourselves hostage in our office [18.35]

5 Things I Do Daily to Grow my Coaching Business

5 Things I Do Daily to Grow my Coaching Business

In this episode I share 5 things I do daily to grow my coaching business. Let’s dig into the highlights!

I help my students and my clients

This is a priority. Before I check my email or anything, I check my Facebook group of students. I don’t have set hours. I go in and see how I can give feedback, who needs help, what win can I celebrate with me. If it is something that is a detailed question, I will often go live to respond.

I write down my goals

A lot of times, this often doesn’t seem like a fun task, but it is so helpful. Most of the time my goals for the day are ‘to-dos.’ I use to beat myself when I didn’t get everything done, however it is okay if you have to bring things over to the next day.

Write down action steps I need to do

Having workflows in your business is super helpful. Here is a freebie vault to go into more depth of my workflows. Sometimes we don’t realize how important this is, by breaking down our goals, this will enable us to be realistic with our time and see the big picture of what is required.

I connect every single day

I post everyday on social media for example through Instagram, Instagram stories, Facebook etc. By connecting with as many people as I can, it helps grow and nurture my audience.

Plan ahead

I look to see that my calendars are up to date, to make sure I am prepared for what is ahead

Bonus tip: Educate [I do this weekly']

You can never stop learning. Every Wednesday I go and learn something new that can help me and my students

Taking action is amazing, we can’t be hard on ourselves [3.50]

Let go of your number goal right before your launch. It’s important to have one, but don’t become obsessed with it [4.36]

Keep doing what you feel called to do. It will come together if your heart is to help people. [5.00]

Be grateful for any result you have [6.00]

Their lack of confidence can be a reason for hesitation and that’s okay [7.40]

How to Monetize Your Coaching Business Without Having to Rely on 1:1 Clients

How to Monetize Your Coaching Business Without Having to Rely on 1:1 Clients

In this week’s episode I talk about how you can monetize your Coaching Business without having to rely on 1:1 clients. Let’s dig into the highlights!

You don’t have to have heaps of offerings and programs

I’m all about keeping things simple. I suggest taking all your ideas and ways to make money, and put them all together into one amazing flagship program that you are known for and can sell with confidence.

Try this exercise:

  1. Know your end goal and bigger picture, for example ‘help coaches grow and scale their coaching business’

  2. Write down everything you can teach people [EVERYTHING… even if someone else is doing it]

  3. Categorize all the things you wrote in the previous step and categorize these into ‘modules’

  4. Create this into a flagship program

This way, as you continue to grow, and have more creative ideas, you can see if it aligns with your flagship program, and if it does you can simply add this to your flagship program and continue to provide value to your clients/students.

By having this one big ‘full box’ of everything they need, you are able to price it higher, which means you will need to sell less to be able to reach your financial goals.

How to Make Your Coaching Business Stand Out

How to Make Your Coaching Business Stand Out

In today’s 5 minute episode, I am going to give you tips for how to make your Coaching Business stand out. Let’s dig into the highlights!

Don’t play the comparison game. When we start talking to ourselves and saying we won’t be able to stand out, it doesn’t support us. We need to start believing that we have something that no one else can bring, because it is true [3.00]

The reason successful coaches are able to stand out is because they are 100% genuine and 100% themselves. When people do their own thing, it grabs attention [5.00]

The two common factors that successful coaches have in common: positive mindset and confidence [6.19]

How to Get Confident In Your Offerings

How to Get Confident In Your Offerings

Today’s episode will help you get confident in the offerings you have for your dream clients. Let’s dig into the highlights!

Build your list

Begin list building prior to selling. This will enable you to have a quality list of people that are interested in your offerings and how you can help them. Don’t worry about the numbers, just have people on your list that are likely to buy from you. This will help you have confidence in what you have to offer.

Don’t compare your offerings to others

Don’t put negativity onto your offerings, as this will block your creativity. I have found that this exercise is really helpful:

Picture your ideal client/student and go to your favorite place (e.g. coffee shop) and as you are there you are just sitting and listening to that client about their life… what they are struggling with, what they are going through, the things they have tried that hasn’t worked, some things that have worked … just listen and write down what you heard and then write down the things you really want to share with her/him when they are finished talking. Now, once they have finished talking, reply to that client with one thing they can do right now that will help her/him to have a win. That should be your offering or freebie. This is your confidence putting it out there. You don’t need to go and research on google what you can give potential clients, allow yourself to go through this exercise and it will come much easier to you.

How will your dream clients best consume content

For a while I tried creating video content and I didn’t enjoy it. I was comparing myself with other people and how they were running their business. I had to adjust the delivery of the content because it wasn’t aligning with me or with my clients. When people come to me asking what type of content they should create, I always ask what they enjoy doing.

Present your offerings with confidence

Set up your freebie, your 1:1 program and/or coaching program to be aligned with you, your branding and your messaging. If you design it and create it in a well presented way, it will increase your confidence.

My experience of launching. [4.40]

Don’t try to create the program before selling it. [5.03]

10 Tips for Launching Your Group Program

10 Tips for Launching Your Group Program

This episode aims to provide tips for your next or first group coaching program launch. Let’s dive into the highlights!

Group programs are easier to scale and it’s easier to make a greater difference as you can impact more people.

Work backwards

What is your end goal? For example ‘launch SOCA’. Then move to the next details; e.g. when will you launch, how will you launch, and how will you make this program happen. My favorite ways to launch include: 5 day FREE challenge in the lead up to the launch and a webinar. Choose what works for you and have a try of a few different method to see what works best.

Plan your launch out at least a month ahead

If it is your first launch, or you take longer to do tech set-ups, consider going two months out. The best launches come from preparation and breathing room.

Document everything you do

Write it on paper or create a workflow in Asana. You will also be able to go back for future launches to see what worked and what didn’t. This will also help make sure you don’t miss anything.

Do all the tech stuff before the creative process

By doing this you are able to reduce the tasks that’ aren’t done yet’ and your creativity can flow much better. Even if it is just the backbone tasks. E.g. create the set up of the email automation > write the email > add the content to the emails that have been set up. Remember that you don’t have to do everything at once.

Do not create your course before your launch

Do you want to create a program that you are unsure of if people will buy? By launching your course first this will give you motivation to create the content. You can create the module titles, but not the actual content.

Check in with yourself

Allow yourself to feel deserving of the results you can achieve. Your job is to make your potential clients believe that you can help them. If you feel uncertain, so will they.

Embrace the nerves and transform it into something positive

It is so amazing that we are able to serve the people that show up to learn from us. Why would you create a negative ending to something that hasn’t happened yet?

Know how your dream students want to learn and have success

For example, I use to get frustrated in programs that were video heavy as I wasn’t able to finish the programs, so I made my course into bite-size workbooks with step by step exercises to get the results they are craving

Don’t discount a small list

You don’t need thousands of people to launch your program, you just need people who are interested. Warm up the people you do have on your list to gain information to see if people are interested.

Celebrate

You don’t have to do anything gigantic. Just do something different. Don’t ever discount your launch if you didn’t reach your goal… take it as the clients you do have are there for a reason and that is something to celebrate.
