20 Things You Can Email Your List
The main objective of an online coach is to grow their email list. Coaches often fear communicating with the subscribers on their list regularly because they’re afraid of that dreaded, “unsubscribe” moment so they end up never saying a word to them.
They may also struggle with having something to even say and may even feel like they’re bothering people by sending them emails on a regular basis.
If you have an email address then you know how it can be. Your inbox can get bombarded with spammy messages and emails that you don’t even want to open and you simply prefer just dragging them into the trash and moving on with your day. Which leads you to think that your subscribers will do the same and thus you stay silent.
Whether you don’t email your list because of fear of losing your hard-earned subscribers or you’re completely stumped on what to send them I want to encourage you to use the ideas I’m about to give you. In fact, you could even plug them into your content calendar as a weekly theme so you feel like you have some direction.
1. Send an invite to your Facebook group
If you have a Facebook group (you totally should) then invite your list to join you over there. Don’t forget to give them a reason why too. If you need help growing your Facebook group, then check out this episode I did with Christina Jandali, How to Grow Your Facebook Group: https://LindsayMaloney.com/podcast-listen/how-to-grow-your-facebook-group-with-christina-jandali.
2. Put together a content medium summary
Sometimes we assume everyone on our list knows what we’re up to, content-wise, but they don’t. Put together a compilation of your latest post, video, or podcast episode. Here’s a visual example ↓
3. Share your latest content medium update
Did you publish something new on your blog or maybe just released a new podcast episode or video? Share the link with your list. The goal of your email should be to get clicks and traffic to your content. Here’s an example of a simple email CTA (call to action) ↓
4. Create a survey and share it with your list
One of the best ways to create engagement and inspiration is to ask questions to the people who choose to be in your corner of the internet. Keep it short and sweet and be sure to have a purpose, like future product research, content ideas, etc. Here is an example of my 2022 survey release ↓
5. Send an invite to follow you on Instagram
An easy way to grow your Instagram account would be to ask the people who subscribe to you via email to come over and hang out on Instagram. I also like to give my subscribers a preview of my feed on the footer of my emails as well. This is really to do in Flodesk. If you’d like a 50% off coupon, click here. Check out the footer visual ↓
6. Invite your list to join one of your Pinterest boards
Pinterest boards are a fantastic way to collaborate with other online business friends it’s also the number one way I drive traffic to my website and landing pages organically. If you’re not on the Pinterest bandwagon yet, then you’re definitely going to want to pay attention to this! Here’s a link to join one of mine, Coaching Business Mentorship. Here is a blog post sharing how I tripled my Pinterest views in less than a week.
7. Extend an invitation to one of your TailWind communities
Tailwind Communities are very similar to Pinterest group boards. Here’s a link to join my community, Book Your Dream Clients. Here’s a Tailwind coupon to get you started too while we’re at it too!
8. Create a new freebie and send them the link to the landing page
This is a great way to not only let your subscribers know what you’ve been up to, but it’s also a fantastic way to know if what you create is something your people want. Watch your landing page data as you promote this; if it’s over 40-50%, then you are on target.
9. Create a roundup of freebies
List 3 to 5 freebies that your subscribers should know about. You can direct them to landing pages or straight to the freebie. I personally would go the landing page route for the reason I cited in number 8.
10. Host a webinar
Dive into webinars (webinars are the best!) and invite your list to join you while you’re at it too! Here’s a free workbook to incentivize you a bit, How to Book Clients With Webinars.
11. Compile your testimonials and reviews
If you have testimonials, reviews, or positive comments online (be sure to screenshot those moments too!) your list may be pretty interested in reading these! Sometimes all someone needs to know is how you helped someone that used to be in their shoes. Bonus tip: create a page on your site that also lists all of these testimonials. Here’s mine.
12. Go live on your preferred social media platform and send them a link to join you
Do you go live on social or have a strong desire to? Invite your people to come to hang out with you!
13. Create a quiz and send them the link to participate
Everyone loves a good quiz and it’s definitely a quick way to build your list too! I used Interact to create my quiz, right here.
14. Announce that you are accepting clients with a link to your application
If you have extra space in your calendar for a new client or two, then be sure to let the people closest to you know first! Here’s a post I created on Instagram that talks about my email that brought me 6 $10,000 clients.
15. Create a top ten list
Think about your subscribers. What topic would they love broken down into a top ten list?
16. Check in and request a reply
A simple, “Hey, how are you?” always goes a long way. Sometimes we think too much and overanalyze everything. This is just a simple question that has a lot of impact plus great potential conversations.
17. Product or program feature
Whether it’s a new product or program or an oldie but a goodie, share it with your list! Add some visuals to it and make the selling process easy peasy.
18. Share the spotlight with one of your clients or students
I love sharing the hard work and wins of my clients and students. It’s a great way to show people that you have the ability to help and serve others. They may also identify with your clients as students, which is a great way for them to see what’s possible.
19. List out your favorite books
I love a good book list and I know my subscribers do too! Share what you’re currently soaking in and ask what they’re reading too!
20. Send them to your latest Instagram reel/TikTok video
If you’re into Instagram Reels and/or TikTok then be sure to let your list know what you’re up to! I like to create reels, but only when I feel truly inspired. Here are some reels that I’ve done:

You see my friends, there are plenty of things to talk about with your email list. Don’t be afraid to help people. When my clients and students express this fear, I ask them, “If you had 50 people come to your house, would you ignore them or would you try to help them, talk to them, and get to know them?” Don’t ignore the people who chose to be on your side. They’re looking forward to hearing from you!
