Video, reel, TikToK, video, video video... Do you feel like you need to become a video star in order to make it now? I don't know about you, but I am the definition of an introvert and the thought of going on video every single day makes me want to run away and hide. When I posted my first ever reel on Instagram I didn't follow a single trend.

I didn't use a trending song. I didn't point to text boxes. And in fact, I didn't even show my face. I know. Totally serious. It actually got some good traction though and I really liked what I was seeing. So I decided to add it to my social media content plan, in my own way of course. I'm always slower to dip my toes into new social media trends because I need to over-analyze the crap out of everything.

Okay. So what about Pinterest? I'm getting to it. First of all, I love the idea of repurposing content. Cause why let your brilliant work die with one post, right? And one Saturday morning, June 26th to be exact, I decided to grab that reel video I made and repurpose it into a Pinterest pin. Two seconds after I did that, I noticed Pinterest new idea pin feature, and I thought I'm going to try that out.

And then I'm going to compare it to the good old video pin. So I have some shocking results for you. So if you want to see actual visuals for this example, Then go to my website, Lindsay Maloney.com. Click on this podcast episode and you can see my screenshots for each of the stats for the idea pin versus the video pin.

So let's start with the idea pin. I use the same headline for each of these posts. I use the same description. So nothing changed. There was no variable. The only actual thing that was different was the vehicle. One was an idea pin, one was a video pin. Okay? So I want to make sure that's clear. So when you're ever comparing anything in your business and you want to see what works better, I recommend just to change one thing.

Whether it's like the headline or the copy, an emoji, whatever it is, so you don't have to play the guessing game. Why is this doing so much better than this? So my variable was the mode of deliverable from Pinterest. Okay, so today when I'm recording this it's July 9th, and this is the stats as of today: For the idea pin, the impressions are -  write this down - 188.01000.

The pin clicks: 5.05000 clicks. Saves: 2.13000. Follows: 62. Profile visits: 137. And then I see that I have 255 hearts. Okay. For the video pin, there's 1.98000 views. That's like 187,000 difference. The amount of clicks, 25. Compared to 5.05000. And the amount of saves? Four compared to 2.13000. And I have -  I don't think I've any hearts on this one. But I did have

255 on the other one. Huge differences, right? This just goes to show you that you can go against the trends and post what feels easiest for you at the moment. You don't have to do what everyone else is doing. And you certainly should repurpose your work onto the platforms that your audience is hanging out on.

So, have you been posting Pinterest idea pins, or do you want to get started? I have some additional tips for you. If you don't have access to this feature yet you have to go to Pinterest. I'll put the link in this post so you can get the special access to idea pins. And it bears repeating repurpose, repurpose, repurpose. Because it works you guys.

You don't have to come up with Pinterest content, Instagram content, Facebook content, podcast content, email content, website content. You can use the same stuff for everything and I've become a master at it. Also Pinterest does have a best practices... it's not a tutorial.

Oh, I would say it's a quick little tutorial you can read to see what works best for idea pins. So are you thinking of some books that you can record for your idea pin? Cause that's what I did. I grabbed ten books off my shelf and I literally just slapped them on the couch and recorded my hand putting them on top of each other.

That's all I did. So tell me if you're thinking of doing that, or if you have a reel that did really well on Instagram, repurpose it onto Pinterest idea pins and be sure to take me on social or send me a Voxer and let me know how your stats are going compared to all of your other Pinterest pins.
