How to Trust the Process

Welcome back to The Book Your Dream Clients podcast. Today I want to talk to you about trusting the process. We hear this a lot. You probably heard it from me many times. Trusting the process involves you letting go. And I know that can be really hard to do sometimes, especially when you love having full control, just like me.

So I'm going to share with you a little bit of how I trust the process in my business and why it's the best way for you to go as well. So sit back, relax and enjoy.

I've been writing in my journal every night since I was eleven years old. I don't have a lock and key anymore to protect my very top secret information from my little brother. I still look forward to emptying out my mind and my heart on the daily. It's also a bonus that I don't have to hide my Minnie Mouse diary under my mattress anymore. Who else had one of those... Minnie Mouse diaries with the lock and key. Those locks and keys were very necessary, right?

I also really love looking back at what I wrote a year or more ago. It's really interesting to see what I was grateful for that day. It’s humbling to read my words when I may have been struggling with something or worried about the future. What I really love reading is snippets about my business journey. Ten years ago when I first started with my health coaching blog, I had zero clue where this was headed. All I knew was that God was telling me I had something special to do, and I just trusted in my journey and I continued to follow his lead.

I have no idea where my business will be next year, 2022. And as much as I can plan, prep, dream about it, buy the planners, all the things. It doesn't matter. God's got this. And I liked that a lot. I know it can feel really uneasy and sometimes scary to run a business online. To put yourself out there every day and to do something that no one else in your personal life seems to be doing.

I don't know about you, but it feels like the only time you can really talk about your business is on a group coaching call or with a call with your coach. And it feels awkward to talk about it with your family and friends, because they don't know what a landing page means much less a launch and the results of a launch. They don't know all that stuff. And that's okay.

But I want to tell you something that you might not be hearing very often, or maybe you've never heard before. I think you're really brave. I think you're smart. You have a lot going for you and I'm proud of you. I want to encourage you to trust in the progression of your business and be okay with the pace it's growing, the bumps, twists and all the curves, not everyone has what it takes to do what you do, think about it.

If you look back in your journal from 2011, what does, or would it say? Would the 2011 version of you be proud of who you've become and what you're up to? I always tell my students when we're on a call, I say, we're very weird. No one is doing what we're doing. It might seem like you're in this sea of coaches and it's like, you're just beige and not standing out. And you're joining something that everyone's been a part of for much longer than you have, but that's not true.

We're very strange people I say. Not a lot of people sit down and listened to webinar after webinar and print out ways they can build their business, show up to calls on Saturday mornings or on a Thursday night. Not everyone is like you. And I think we get so stuck with the surroundings on the internet that we think that that's how it actually is. And it's not.

So how can you make 2031... sounds weird, doesn't it...proud of what you're doing right now? Think about it. Will you be proud of yourself or worrying obsessing and stressing over things that are totally out of your control or will you trust the process?

Go with the flow and love every minute of this you're on. Cause I always say what's the alternative -  to trust the process and letting your business be easy. The alternative is stressing out, making everything difficult, confusion, overwhelm. I don't know about you, but I'm saying no to all of it.

So I want to encourage you to let go of all of our, all results, all the numbers, all the things that you are holding to yourself that you think define who you are and who you will be. That doesn't mean anything. What matters is that you believe in yourself, you have full confidence in what you do. That you're excited to help the people that are coming for you that are waiting for you. There are clients out there for you. There are so many clients out there for you. There are students out there, there's members out there. And just because today didn't go as well as you wished it would, that’s okay. There's a lot of goodness ahead.

Before you go, I want to invite you to join my free Facebook group for coaches. Simply type ‘Dream Client Community.com’ in your browser and request access, and we will happily let you in.
