How to Create a Six Figure Coaching Business
I used to mentally roll my eyes whenever I saw anyone online talk about their six figure business. I literally thought it was impossible and figured that they were lying or doing something illegal. “There’s no way you can make six figures online!” said the girl who was making $0 scrolling through a Facebook feed. My how times have changed…
So, let’s talk about this six figure coaching business stuff. What does that even mean and how long does it take to get there? That’s what you really want to know, right?
I would love to tell you that it took me 90 days or some other catchy/markety duration… but it took me so much longer than that. It took me years. And years…
I’ve said it a million times and I’ll say it again, “I built my business during nap times!” and if you’re a mompreneur, you completely get where I’m coming from! No one is more productive than a mom while her babies are sleeping. Am I right or am I right?
I’m not going to waste your time and tell you a bunch of fluffy, seen it before tips because those don’t work. I’m going to share with you exactly what I’ve done to scale my coaching business to six figures and beyond because I want you to do the same! So, let’s get started!
#1 I stopped doing all the things. This was, and sometimes still can be, a bit hard for me. I kept hearing about much better you’re able to run your business when you have people helping you with it over and over again. I had so much resistance to it because, let’s face it, I love to be in control. I’m a mom, older sibling, and an entrepreneur. It’s in my blood!
Once I stopped identifying with the fact that I had to do everything in my business my mind started to shift to thoughts like, “What would make this task easier? What would make my day simpler, more enjoyable, and more at ease?”
I wrote down every little thing that I did in my business from writing social media copy to scheduling out emails for a launch and I paid attention to how I felt when I wrote each one. Once I realized that I actually didn’t love certain things that had to be done in order to grow my business every week I knew it was time to ask for help.
Some things that I don’t love to do in my business are scheduling out emails (especially during a launch!), writing out podcast show notes, scheduling pins, admin work with podcast guests and clients, and scheduling social media. I mean, I can do all these things, but I don’t really want to anymore. Does that make sense?
Another mindset shift you can make when you’re thinking about hiring help is asking yourself, “Would a 6 figure CEO be doing this?” My guess, is probably not.
A bonus tip for hiring: make sure you know your business inside and out before you hire. Don’t bring someone on your team to help you with Pinterest marketing if you’ve never done it before. This allows you to be really specific with what your needs are and it’s just common sense to know what you’re paying for so you’re able to see if it’s working or not.
So, start making your list and see what lights you up and what doesn’t. And then ask yourself if the 6 figure coach would be doing those things in the first place! And if you need any recommendations, DM me on Instagram!
#2 I worked on my mindset because…mindset if everything. I work with women who want to start and scale their coaching businesses. The biggest difference between the women who are bringing in an income and the women who haven’t started that journey yet is one thing, mindset. It’s not their website, the amount of people following them on social media, or their branding. Again, it’s their mindset.
I used to glaze over when I would hear people talk about mindset and I’m hoping you’re not tempted to do that right now because this is so incredibly important. The easiest thing to change and the only thing we have control over is our thoughts. We can’t control if someone likes our website or if they want to work with us. We can’t control if someone wants to follow us on Instagram or swipe up on our story. And we can’t control if someone wants to download our latest and greatest freebie. But, we can control how we think about ourselves and how we feel. Isn’t that liberating?
Think about it, you were born with complete and pure confidence. You didn’t care about how you looked and what was going to happen that day. You were the definition of carefree. You had complete trust that everything was going to work out for you. And somewhere along the way, that carefree mindset shifted into thoughts like, “What if this doesn’t work out? What will people think of me? I’m not good enough.”
We weren’t born thinking we’re not good enough, right? So where did that even come from? When did our minds decide that we don’t deserve wealth and success? What kind of blocks are holding us back from reaching our full potential? These, my friend, are the questions I have been asking myself for the past few years and I’ve been slowly putting the pieces together. The inner work is where the magic is. And once you realize that you have it all inside you, you’ll finally start to listen. You can even book a breakthrough session with me and I’ll be honored to help you sort things out.
Doing the inner work is like a journey with no destination. You’re not ever going to complete it, you’re just going to keep learning more and more about yourself, why you’re here, and what you’re meant to be doing. Because everyone has a purpose and a higher calling. We can’t just not listen to it.
#3 I embraced simplicity. Isn’t simplicity a beautiful word? When you embody it, embrace the meaning, and apply it not only to your life, but your business as well, things dramatically shift. I don’t know about you, but I had it engraved in my mind that if I did more work I would therefore, make more money. SO NOT TRUE! Again, this was a huge block that I had to remove because as we grow up and become productive human beings we are all told this over and over again. And I don’t know about you, but I know a lot of people who work extremely hard every single day and have nothing to show for it. I’m not stating this to be negative or rude. It’s just a fact. And it’s completely backwards! Which is great news, right?
If your business is trying to scale to six figures with a bunch of low dollar products and programs it’s not going to be the easiest and simplest way. So, you have a choice. Clean up your act or keep doing what you’re doing. And if that still sounds scary to you, ask yourself why. Why is it scary for you to do less? Pay attention to those thoughts and see if you can dig deep into the root and yank them out because they’re not serving you at all my dear. Think of your business as a garden. Would you cover the ground in seed and stand there waiting impatiently for it to grow and then come to realize that you just created this monster of a garden with no breathing room for growth? #toomuchgoingon
Or do you think it would be a better idea to grab one packet of seed, visualize the plants in full bloom, take note of the attention they’re going to need to grow at a healthy pace, and lovingly allow them to do their thing. We can either be hovering entrepreneurs who are constantly throwing the spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks or we can be calm, collected, and grateful for each moment knowing that everything will work out for us, in our favor if we allow it to just be.
Trusting the process, simplifying, and letting go of any outcome will allow you to create your six figure coaching business, if that’s what you truly want. So my question to you is, will you continue to hold yourself back or will decide to up level yourself at this very moment and do what the 3-5 years from now you would do? I think you know the answer.
